Hubei Xiangyuan Special Fabrics Co., Ltd., formerly known as Chibi City Special Fabrics Factory, was founded in 1987. In 1987, in response to market demand, it developed flame-retardant fabrics and has since developed large-scale production. It was the only professional manufacturer of flame-retardant fabrics in central and southern China at the time. In 1990, it became the first company in China to obtain a production license for flame-retardant fabrics issued by the Ministry of Labor (No. XK20-3130001) and was named by the Ministry of Labor as a designated production plant for "flame-retardant fabrics".
